Confucius 孔夫子
見賢思齊焉;見不賢而內自省也。
"When we see men of worth,
we should think of equaling them;
we should think of equaling them;
when we see men of a contrary character,
we should turn inwards and examine ourselves."
we should turn inwards and examine ourselves."
A good friend recently sent me an e-mail asking for my interpretation of the above quotation. I wished that she had written her question here in order to increase the much-needed communication. Nevertheless, even though I had never the honour to meet K'un Fu-tzu in person, I believe that he is asking us to look at our own soul if we see a man as unworthy.
